Detailed installation standards and requirements for air compressors

2022-12-21

A.Installation environment layout requirements

  • In order to meet the needs of development, there should be room for expansion of the equipment room in the general drawing.

  • Air compressors inhale directly from the atmosphere, in order to reduce the wear, corrosion and explosion of the unit, the room and the distribution of explosive, corrosive, toxic gases, dust and other harmful substances need to have a certain distance, because the compressor heat dissipation, especially in the summer machine temperature is very high, so the direction of the room should make the machine room have good ventilation, and minimize the sun.

  • Although the compressor has a box, it is strictly prohibited to rain, so the compressor should not be installed in the open air.

  • The compressor room is an independent building.

  • The compressor room must be equipped with a fixed carbon dioxide fire extinguishing device, and its manual switch must be set outside the danger zone. And always accessible. Fire extinguishing equipment Carbon dioxide fire extinguishers or powder fire extinguishers should be placed near the protected target, but should be outside the danger zone.

B. Equipment room installation requirements

  • The inner surface of the walls should be whitened. The compressor base should be placed on the concrete floor with a levelness of no more than 0.5/1000 (mm). And there are grooves around 200mm away from the unit, so that when the unit stops for oil change, maintenance or washing and cleaning the ground, the oil and water can flow from the groove, and the groove size is determined by the user.

  • When the compressor unit is placed on the ground, it should be ensured that the bottom of the box is well fitted to the ground to prevent vibration and increase noise.

  • For qualified users, the wall of the machine room can be affixed with acoustic panels to further reduce noise, but it is not appropriate to decorate the wall with hard surface materials such as ceramic tiles.

  • The air-cooled compressor is greatly affected by the ambient temperature. Therefore, the equipment room should be well ventilated and dry. Use the exhaust pipe to draw out the heat exchange air or set an exhaust fan to control the ambient temperature of the compressor within -5 ° C to 40 ° C.

  • The equipment room has less dust and clean air, and does not contain harmful gases and corrosive media such as sulfite. Depending on the nature of the products your company processes, the air inlet should be equipped with a filter device. The window circulation area should be greater than 3m2

C.Power supply and peripheral wiring requirements

  • The compressor uses three-phase AC(380V/50Hz) as the main power supply, and the freeze dryer uses AC(220V/50HZ) as the main power supply.

  • The voltage drop shall not exceed 5% of the rated voltage, and the voltage difference of each phase shall be within 3%.

  • The compressor power supply must be equipped with an isolation switch to prevent short circuit resulting in phase loss operation.

  • Check the secondary circuit fuse and select the appropriate non-fuse safety switch according to the power of the compressor.

  • The compressor uses a separate power system to avoid parallel use with other different power consumption systems, especially when the power of the compressor is large, it may cause excessive voltage drop or three-phase current imbalance to form compressor overload and make the protection device jump.

  • Must be grounded wire to prevent leakage caused by danger, must not be connected to the air delivery pipe or cooling water pipe.

D、Requirements for pipe installation

  • The air supply port of the unit has a threaded nozzle, which can be connected with your gas supply line. Please refer to the factory manual for installation dimensions.

  • In order to prevent the operation of the whole station or other units from being affected during maintenance, and to reliably prevent the compressed air from flowing back during maintenance, a stop valve must be installed between the unit and the gas storage tank.

  • In order to avoid the impact of filter maintenance on gas, each filter pipe should be provided with a backup pipeline,

  • The branch pipe must be connected from the top of the main pipe to prevent condensate water in the pipe from flowing down to the compressor unit.

  • The pipeline is as short and straight as possible, and the elbow and various valves are reduced to reduce pressure loss.

E、Air piping connection and arrangement

  • The main line of the compressed air pipe is 4 inches, and the branch line is used as far as possible.

  • The pipeline should generally have a slope greater than 2/1000, and the low-end is provided with a blowdown valve (screw plug), and the pipeline should be less curved and short straight valves to minimize.

  • When the underground pipeline passes through the main road surface, the buried depth of the pipe top is not less than 0.7m, and the secondary road surface is not less than 0.4m

  • The installation position of the pressure and flow meter and its surface size should enable the operator to see the indicating pressure, and the pressure scale range should make the working pressure in the 1/2 ~ 2/3 position of the dial scale.

  • After installation, the system should be tested for pressure strength and air tightness, and should not be tested for water pressure. It is carried out at 1.2 to 1.5 times the pressure of the same gas, and is qualified with no leakage.

F、Corrosion protection of air lines

  • After the installation is completed and the pressure test is qualified, the dust, dirt, rust, welding slag and other things on the surface are swept away, and the anti-corrosion treatment is painted. Pipeline painting has the function of anti-corrosion, prolonging the service life of the pipeline, and is also easy to identify and beautiful. Generally, the surface is first coated with anti-rust paint, and the specified blending paint is applied.

G、Lightning protection for air lines

  • Once the high voltage induced by lightning is introduced into the pipeline system and gas equipment of the workshop, it will cause personal accidents of the equipment. Therefore, the pipeline should be well grounded before entering the workshop.

H、Pipeline pressure loss

  • When the gas flows in the pipe, friction resistance is generated in the straight pipe section. Local resistance is generated in valves, tees, elbows, reducing pipes, etc., resulting in gas pressure loss.

  • Note: The total pressure drop of the pipeline part should also be added to the pressure loss of the elbow, reducing nozzle, tee, valve, etc. These values can be found from the relevant manua

I、Ventilation of compressor air pressure system

  • Whether the user uses an oil-free machine or an oil-filling machine, or whether the user uses an air-cooled compressor or a water-cooled compressor, it is necessary to solve the ventilation problem of the air pressure room. According to our previous experience, more than fifteen percent of the failure causes of air compressors are due to neglect or wrong understanding of this aspect.

  • In the process of being compressed, there will be a lot of heat emitted, if the heat can not be discharged in time, it will cause the room temperature of the air compressor room to gradually increase, so that the temperature of the air compressor suction mouth will be higher and higher, such a vicious cycle will cause the air compressor exhaust temperature and alarm, and because the density of high temperature air will cause a reduction in gas production.

Extended reading

For water-cooled compressors, most of the heat is transferred to the cooling water through the heat exchanger, and the cooling water takes the heat away, then only a small fan needs to be set up to take away a small part of the heat emitted by the main motor. For air-cooled compressors, a large amount of fresh air is needed to exchange the heat generated during the compression process, so the inlet of fresh air must be considered, which can be close to the inlet of the air compressor cooling air suction (the air inlet used for the compression part can also be close to the fresh air inlet).

If necessary, a separate air duct can be set up to introduce fresh air, so that the hot air of the air compressor can avoid affecting the cooling process, of course, depending on the structure of the air compressor and the customer's situation. Generally speaking, the air duct should be set up to export the hot air through heat exchange to the air compressor room, and if necessary, the fan or fan should be set up at the guide outlet to strengthen the export effect of the hot air.

The fresh air inlet mentioned above needs to be set at the low level of the air pressure room, and the hot air outlet (including the corresponding fan or fan) should be set at the high level, because the density of hot air is small, generally staying at the high level, this setting will be conducive to the export of hot air, and will prevent the discharged hot air from entering the air intake again and the short circuit of the air flow.

In addition, it should be noted that the fresh air inlet and the hot air outlet are respectively set on the opposite two walls, and the purpose of doing so is also to prevent the discharged hot air from entering the intake again and the short circuit of the air flow. A dust insulation grid is set at the fresh air inlet to prevent more dust or debris such as catkins from entering the air compressor, and a rain cover is set at the hot air outlet to prevent rainwater from flowing into the hot air exhaust.
